How it all started...
Union Point Church began with a stirring in my heart to pursue Him and His purpose beyond where we lived in Beaufort, NC. I was born in the downeast area of Carteret County, in a town called Straits, just outside of Harkers Island, NC. The opportunity to minister to my people in Beaufort was a dream come true. The thought or idea of leaving to go else where just seemed counterintuitive. However, Jesus being who He is, always calls us beyond what seems plausible to our reality. His call for our family to move to New Bern was just that, a seemingly implausible and audacious leading of faith. The audaciousness came with the reality that our call was to plant a church, centered in the gospel, seeing Jesus lifted up and hearts drawn in this city.
- November 14, 2014 - After a year of assessments, training and fundraising, Lenee’ and I moved our family into a new home in a new city. There was no church, no one we really knew, and no real tangible promise of seeing anything happen. All we had was a dream and a call that was given by a faithful God who had carried us this far. We simply trusted He would continue to do the same.
- January 10, 2015 - We gathered whoever we could find and began meeting in our home. We saw an awesome time of growth in people’s lives and eventually realized that we needed to find a larger meeting place.
- May 27, 2015 - Our gathering shifted over to the Twin Rivers YMCA for our meetings. Through that summer we continued to grow and pressed forward to our official launch on September 27, 2015. Since then, we have seen Jesus Lifted Up in people’s lives and hearts transformed by His gospel of grace. It has been nothing short of His miracle and He gets all the glory.
-September 3, 2017- We Moved into our current leased space @ 3551 Trent Blvd. This space has been incredible and we have seen the church grow from 86 to 300 in less than two years. God is continuing this amazing story as we co-labor with Him in the kingdom work.
